Voting is one of the most important things in the mini conference since every topic
requires voting. The delegates must raise their country flag to vote.
Parliamentary Points are also very important. There are different types of
parliamentary points. There’s the Right of reply, which each delegate considers that
their personal or national integrity has been impugned (offended) by another delegate.
Another one is the Point of order, which a delegate may raise when there is improper
use of parliamentary procedure. Furthermore, we have the Point of personal privilege,
which each delegate may use to go to the bathroom, drink water, etc., which doesn’t
involve the debate. Additionally, we may raise a point of follow up, which each
delegate can use to get informed if they’re lost with the current session. Even more, we
have the point of parliamentary inquiry, which is when the delegate is making an
intervention and they have any doubts about parliamentary language. There’s the
point of information, which can be used for different reasons, for example, to know
what the chair is entertaining. To conclude, there is the point of relevance, which can
be used to point out a delegate that is speaking about a different topic nonrelated to
the topic being talked about.
Now, I’ll talk about the wonderful experience I had with this mini conference. At first, I
was nervous, since my last conference was an online one, I didn’t know what to expect,
Thanks to my fellow delegates, they helped me with things I didn’t know about and
some procedures I had to follow. Being in the Security Council truly helped me since it
had the best delegates. Winning truly made me happy as I really felt I did a good job,
and it was very relieving knowing that the honorable chair acknowledged my
performance. I want to thank my wonderful teachers & fellow classmates/delegates for
helping me win this wonderful conference.
In conclusion, MUNs are a wonderful experience which many delegates can participate
in, which can help develop their skills in many factors, such as speaking, listening &
arguing, The Model of United Nations, truly was an amazing experience.
